Kids Furniture
shopping.

I guess I understand why children's furniture can be so exciting to your kids. It always seems to indicate a right of passage. When adults buy a piece of furniture, it's because they have been saving up and looking for a long time, and have found just the right item. However, kids furniture signifies something different. It's even more important to them than your new couch is to you. You see, new kids furniture usually means that the child has grown up a little bit. They will be too big for their chair, or too tall for that bed they have been sleeping in. When they get new kids furniture, they know that they are one step closer to that magical world of adulthood.

I like to take this a step further in my family. When I buy kids furniture for my daughter, I usually make it a reward. Secretly, I know that I'm getting kids furniture for her because she is growing up, but she doesn't know that. I will set goals for her. I will make her read a certain number of books, or do her chores every day for a couple of months. Once she does this, she gets to pick out kids furniture for herself. I don't give her free run of the store. I tell her to pick out one item like a new chair, or a new bed, or perhaps a kid table.

I think picking out kids furniture is one of my daughter's favorite things to do in the world. She is at that age where colors are still fascinating. She sees the bedsheets with their bright and vibrant colors, and her eyes practically water. She loves new rocking chairs most of all. She will sit in her rocking chair for hours, talking to her dolls and playing mommy. Children's furniture, you see, is part of her magical make-believe world. It helps her to pretend that she has her own house. Sometimes it's in a magic kingdom, but just as often it is a normal house like we have. The only difference is that she is the adult there.
I have always loved shopping for kids room furniture with my daughter. It's not that furniture shopping is my idea of fun. I have always hated shopping of all kinds, and shopping for childrens furniture is no exception. It's just that she gets so excited about kids furniture. I'm always so happy to see the pleasure in her eyes while we're
