Most kids will show of their blankets and sheets off to other children, and it is a great privilege to be one of the kids with the coolest quilts.
Since I started selling childrens bedding many years ago, I have seen a lot of styles come and go. There are some things, however, that never go out of style. Spaceships, airplanes, cars, trucks, and other big transportation machines are always popular with boys. With girls, it varies a little bit more. Sometimes they like the same things as boys, but other times they prefer princess quilts, sheets with hearts and flowers, or Power Puff girls blankets.
When you are letting your kid pick out childrens bedding, you shouldn't leave it all up to them. For example, if you don't intend to allow them to pick out a new quilt anytime soon, don't let them pick out something that is probably just a passing fad. Kids grow bored with TV shows very quickly, so any childrens bedding based on a popular cartoon will probably get pretty old within a years time. By contrast, getting your children bedding based on a more common childhood theme such as cars and trucks can be a good investment. With bedding like that, your son or daughter is likely to completely wear it out before getting tired of it! Still, sometimes it pays to let your children make their own mistakes. After all, there is no better way to teach them how to make decisions on their own.
